Let me start out by saying that I have a degree in clothing design, I’m very picky, critical about most things visual and can be driven easily insane by an uneven hemline, a picture crooked on a wall or many other things that go unnoticed by most but are glaringly annoying to me in an artistic or visual sense.

I had my DS surgery in 2000 and lost 136 pounds. I held out the thought that I wasn’t going to need reconstructive surgery but it became apparent that unless I was going to be able to be happy tucking my excess (uneven, lol) Shar Pei skin into my clothes for the rest of my life, that I was going to have to bite the bullet and have more surgery.

I had a number of consultations with plastic surgeons in the US and found their willingness to do multiple surgeries at one time to reduce the number of times I was subjected to anesthetic and their ability to do the different types of surgeries well, was really very limited. If they did great breasts they didn’t do great tummy tucks or didn’t do lower body lifts or thigh lifts at all. I continued my search and found Dr. Fabio from following a thread on my WLS online support group, saw before and after pictures and thought that his work was beautiful and imagine what he had to start with?! He surely could fix me! I took a leap of faith and flew to Brazil to have him do his magic.

Not only does Dr. Fabio have the patience of a saint, putting up with my questioning his methods, but he respected me for having suggestions. I pretty much thought that fabric was not a far cry from skin and we were talking about 3D outcomes just like in clothing….so I never felt that I couldn’t contribute some idea that I had about “how” to tweak my body and was never ever made to feel like what I had to ask or say was dismissed, even if I was way off…

Dr. Fabio did such a wonderful job on every area of my body. I couldn’t have asked for better reconstructive work to have been done. He is not only a talented technician in the operating room, but a true artist as well. His attentiveness to my aftercare was superlative and all of his staff careful and caring.

TLC is the perfect compliment for anyone considering going to Brazil for their medical needs and Wanda is a competent and calming influence for those pre op nerves because she has been through this process first hand.

I never in all my life thought I would ever look this “normal” and feel this beautiful….I owe Dr. Fabio the credit for not only altering my exterior but directly impacting how I feel about and now fit in, this world of “Normies” It feels so wonderful to just blend in….Thank you Dr. F!
